Garnier Miracle Skin Perfector – An orange mess

Ok ok, I freely admit it I am the first to jump on the bandwagon when beauty is involved (my banker does not like me I have to say).

So when I heard Garnier was launching its very own take on the big BB cream market, I thought it meant all my dreams were coming true. For those of you who do not yet know (or those that have been hiding under a rock for the past couple of years), BB stands for Blemish Balm cream, just the name is enough to make you dream about perfect skin isn’t it?

It exists in two shades, Medium and Light, and comes in quite a big frosty beige tube that you can squeeze up to the last drop, and has a SPF 15 too which is a plus. It is marketed as a one-in-all product that will make your make up bag so much lighter while perfecting your skin. It is afterall a moisturiser, tinted cream and skin perfector in one tube!

Perfection in a tube? Well, not really unfortunately, quite the opposite.

The first thing I realised was that the cream is heavily fragranced,  which might cause sensitive skins to react. When I put it on my fingers I found it quite dark, but spread it on my face anyway thinking it would become lighter once on the skin.

The cream itself spreads very easily, but if your skin is on the dry side you will need a moisturiser under it.

Colour-wise unfortunately, I chose the Light colour, which is still way too dark (and o rage o despair, orange) for my pasty white freckled skin.

Since it was a Saturday I left it on while doing a few other thins around the house, and went back in front of the mirror a few hours later. My face was still orange so I washed it off…. and on the evening discovered a few tiny hard bumps on my cheeks, which only disappeared after 2 weeks.

All in one, that was not a nice try for me…. so that is one more product that is going to end its life in the “Beauty Products Purgatory” shelf on my bathroom, just in case I decide I might use it again, knowing full well I will not.

What about you, did you try it? What did you think?

Small print: bought it myself, unfortunately.
